Hi! Everyone. I'm a newbie here in this forums but I been an SQ fan. I'm been stitching for awhile and my question is_ Is there a standard in making a cross? The reason why I ask because I cross stitch this way ( I start from the top left to bottom right and come up from top right to bottom left ( \\\ ) then ( ///), that's how I made my cross. It is easy for me that way, but I wonder if the other way is better or nettier???
Just need you suggestion before I start my first SQ Virgin of the Lilies. I'm just finishing up preparing all my threads and I'm ready to go...
Happy stitching,
Nora

Hi Nora and welcome to SQ!
Well you know, I actually stitch exactly the same way that you do! And, just between you and me, I think it is the absolute best way to stitch!

So long as they all go the same way, it doesn't matter! Even if it is backwards
Sorry - you left that wide open for me

It really does not matter which direction you make the x's, but sometimes if one of the holes is filled, with a stitch next to the one you are going to make, you have to stitch in a different direction.

Evil woman!
Of course, I know that you can do it any way you like, but it's just that some of us have reached a higher plane than that and understand that not all stitching techniques were created equal...

Oh no, sounds like there's gonna be a "stitch-off"!

Oooh fun! Will there be mud pies and cream cakes? Although maybe that wouldn't be very cross stitch-friendly....
Speaking of which, have you and Rife had your little Atlanta get-together yet?
