Dear All,

I've recently purchased Beeches:

http://www.scarletquince.com/pat.php?pat=DUR006

and am really excited as I've completed my first 1500 stitches. I'm in a very dark zone and can't wait to get out and stitch some color (this will probably happen on page 3 though!) I've gridded and blended all the colors. Whew! This took a long time. Anyway, griding is really the way to go for me. It helps me to ensure that I'm doing the correct stitch. I've been reading avidly about the scoll bars and floor stands and I actually purchased one that clamps onto any table. I haven't used it yet because I find I have so much more freedom to stitch where I want to if I use a hoop (as I've basically just begun, the hoop has a small diameter)

Like so many of you, I find it very hard to find enough time to stitch. Of course daylight hours are best but with work, I'll just have to content myself to nighttime stitching.

If I can figure out how to load progress pictures on the site, I'll show you all how far I've advanced.

Cheers to all,

Cecilia

Hi fenny,

Thanks for your message! Yes, I've started at the top left corner. Do you know what? I checked out the real painting on the net (using zoom) and saw that the stitched version is very very close to the original except for a tiny little omission most likely due to spacing. What's missing is a tiny white church steeple in the background. Well, I like this little steeple so much that I've decided that once I finish the stitching, I will see if I can't add it using the thinnest thread of white silk. I mention silk because it can be divided into unbelievably thin threads.

I was wondering how many of the SQ stitchers haven't thought about becoming stitchers full time? I know that I constantly battle this idea since 4-6 hours can pass so quickly!!!!

Cheers,

Cecilia

Hi Cecilia, would love to, but the housework etc, doen't do itself yet, Rolling Eyes but I don't have a job, am home all day, so mayby could, but with 3 boys in the house, always enough to do. Anyway, stitching is fun the way it's now. Laughing
As far as the steeple goes, when you're there you'll see what you can do and you can always Meredith for advise!

If there were no deadlines involved, and I could work on whatever I wanted to work on, when I wanted to work on it, then a professional stitcher I would be Smile But once you introduce a deadline, it becomes work - and I don;t think any of us like to "work" !! As slow as I am sometimes, I'd starve long before I'd paid my way Shocked Guess that would be an hourly job with no actual output I'm looking for, huh? But I've already worked for the government before... Evil or Very Mad

Those males that live in my house must already think I am a pro, as much time as I spend when I can. They haven't figured out it's what's keeping them alive Wink

Hi Cecilia and welcome. Wow, that's a lovely picture you've picked, I can just imagine it all stitched up! We'll be looking forward to your progress pictures. In order to post a picture here in the forums you need to first post your image to an online host, get the IMG code and then paste that into your forum post. It's pretty easy.

A bientot, Very Happy

Thanks for the info Alanna. Would you have the name of an online host that's secure? I would love to try and do this.

Cheers,

Cecilia

I've used photobucket before and it worked perfectly well. Very easy and straightforward.
