Sunflowers by Van Gogh Pattern     Reply with quote

Has anyone completed the Sunflowers by Van Gogh pattern? I would like to try the pattern, but I was told there is not a thread chart, only colored fabric so you need to figure out what color stitch to make on each and every box, is this correct? Any advice on completing something of this magnitude without a pattern is appreciated. Thanks

I am not entirely sure I follow your question, but these patterns are all standard B&W cross stitch charts, with key and floss usage. If you follow this link, it tells you just what you get when you order one of these fabulous charts:

There is also a finished Sunflowers in the gallery - go here (or find the link at the top of the home page) and scroll down until you see it: http://www.scarletquince.com/gallery.php

I was told there is not a traditional chart noting a color in each square, but just a blended colored picture so the individual making the piece has to guess what color to use.

IF you follow the FIRST link I provided above, you will see that a Scarlet Quince chart is like any other LARGE cross stitch chart - there are symbols and a key to tell you what each one is in DMC. There ARE blended threads - one strand of 2 different colors - that make up the majority of the color symbols - but there is NO GUESSING what color to use. How could there be on a chart of this magnitude? Unlike Heaven & Earth Designs, if you are familiar with them, Scarlet Quince uses BLENDED COLORS, but this is clearly done in the key that is provded.

PLEASE go look at the link I gave you - it shows you EXACTLY what a SC chart contains. If you then have further questions, please ask here, or read back through older posts here in the SQ forum.
