Bush babies coming along well...     Reply with quote

Well, my Snugglepot and Cuddlepie project is really starting to take shape now (it's just so cute!) and I'm doubly inspired because I saw my friend over the weekend (she's six months pregnant and this piece is for her little one). But now that my new project has arrived in the mail I've got itchy fingers and am really having to resist the urge to start that one straight away before finishing my bush babies! I'm telling myself- keep your head, keep your head, buggelugs is due in early feb and it just won't do to not have his/her bush babies waiting!

Oh well, I'll probably finish faster now!

Well, I've just had to do a whole bunch of unpicking (wattle blossom baby's legs)- isn't that the hardest thing to do in cross stitching? You just can't bear to pull out all your beautifil little stitches just because they happen to be one square out of place! Still, perfectionist that I am, I just couldn't allow them to stay where they were. But now I've run out of that colour and my local shop doesn't have it in stock! Confound it all! That means I won't be able to go on effectively for another week! Oh well, at least it might give me a chance to read some of my book, which has been shamefully neglected for too long now. Just how one is supposed to find the time to both read (and exercise one's brain) and cross stitch (and give the poor thing a rest) I just don't know!

Persistence is a potion with power- just think how wind and water wear away rock, how time petrifies wood into solid stone, how stalagmites grow up out of the ground... I say keep it up! Eventually he'll be paying you to leave him alone!

Oh, I've just been stuck on these for a while now, I'm so very nearly finished but I'm so busy that my progress has now slowed down to the tiniest trickle. I was pleased to be able to get in one whole hour this week (!) and in that time only finished one little butterfly. It's frustrating to be so close to the end but still so far away. Oh well, the holidays are coming soon.

I feel ya. A whole hour devoted to cross stitch would be a real treat... I barely ever have enough time to just take the project OUT these days. Rolling Eyes

Well, my friend has been announced that her baby (due at the end of the first week in FEBRUARY) could come at any time!!! It would seem that it's already quite large and apparently they say that if it hasn't arrived within two weeks, they will induce her! So, this all spells diasaster for the bush baby project where it is currently stagnating in my embroidery box! I have taken it out again with a fervour that sees me picking it up at 10 o'clock at night after a full day at work + dinner + cleaning up and stitching late into the wee hours of the morning every night just to try and get somewhere with it. And, I can see the progress finally happening. I just have another couple of large gum leaves, a ladybeetle, the beading, the actual writing of the baby's name etc. (which I can't do until after it's born anyway), and a gossamer spider's web. Phew, the end is in sight! I think it's looking really good and just hope against hope that I can get it finished before 'bubble' makes it into the world!
The other thing is that I've actually managed to get this piece quite grotty this time (I even got a spot of chocolate right bang in the middle of it!!!)- any special suggestions for getting rid of this, girls?
Merry merry merries to you all.

Well, I am very pleased (and proud as punch) to announce that my beautiful bush babies are finally finished!!! And I had everything that I could possibly do done before the baby was born (just stitched her name and weight/length etc. afterwards). At 4 kilos and a month premature, I think it was a good thing that she arrived when she did. Now I just have to be very patient until March when I can go and see her and give her mum this piece which took me almost as long to make as it took her to make the baby!!! Laughing

I should be putting a picture of it in my photo album in another chat group later on today, so I'll let you know when that happens (although I think that you may need a Yahoo account to access the page- it's free anyway).

Now I can start my new project- a beautiful TW dragon!! Please see my other post on him in the stitching forum as I already have a question!!
