Thanks for the explanation of assissi, and your photos and work are stunning. I always love to see people's WIP.

My stitching is suffering horribly from summer slump, but only because I am so busy. I travel for work in the summer, plus we are moving in August (during the one week in August that I am home), so I have put Irises away for the summer. It made me skeeeerd to think about traveling with it. It made me sad to put it away because I love working on it. It makes other patterns pale in comparison. Those large blocks of one color have become so boring and one dimensional. I decided to make an ornament tree as a Christmas gift for my Mom who lives in Assisted Living, so I'll be taking the ornaments with me to work on. But I have been so busy I haven't even worked much on the smaller projects.

And I would also like to say that I am so happy that this forum has become more active lately.

This has been the year of ornaments and smalls for me. I have never had travel projects, since I pretty much have always done TW designs and the like - those aren't too travel-friendly. And I take a book with me everywhere, so didn't really feel the need to take stitching, too. Until I started talking stitching with people on the internet, which has only fed my craving to stitch more! So, earlier this year, I thought, Gee, I could probably take some small ornament-type things with me to soccer games and stuff, since we often spend an entire day away - the wife of the coach doesn't get to leave the away games before the coach, who had 3 teams this past spring. So, I kitted up a bunch of ornament freebies that I have been collecting for years, and started working on them while waiting for the games to start, at half times, etc.

Now, all I gotta do is either get my old Singer operational, or buy one of those cheapie sewing machines, which I can use until it blows up, and not feel bad about pitching it. I have a bunch of finished things laying around now, and many of those same internet people keep hounding me on when I am going to actually make ornaments out of them!!! And can I just mention, my reading has declined severely in the past year; I still read every day (can't go to sleep if I don't get at least a page in before I turn off the light), but I can't remember the last time I spent an entire day on the couch with a book; I tried, but projects were whispering mean things to me Evil or Very Mad AHHHH, I'm a compulsive stitcher!

Yeah, I think it's a matter of regular alternation, if you do too much of one thing, eventually you'll hit a rut and lose your inspiration. So you swap for a bit and before you know it, you can't wait to get back into the other thing! We human beings are fickle creatures I'm convinced, and maybe us gals even more so than the menfolk... Rolling Eyes
Although I'm definitely experiencing summer slump when it comes to my TW dragon, I've completely devoured several chunky books in the meantime and enjoyed it thoroughly! But I am starting to really miss my crossy though... Wink

What were those statistics about how many words an average man speaks a day and an average woman speaks like triple the amount! We've just got the gift of the gab! Razz

The statistics I heard on the gender gap difference had the difference as being minimal; with women only talking a slight difference more. However, I frequently point out to my husband that women say more interesting things so therefore we should talk more! Laughing

I don't know; I think they like my CD collection - the non-classical part of it, anyway. And the fact that my car is my own personal concert hall Smile They rarely get my jokes, so I'm attributing it to the music...
