I chose "Kissing the Face of God" by Morgan Weistling. I'm doing a picture for each of my kids to have after I'm long gone. This one is for my youngest who will always be my baby no matter how old he gets. Very Happy

Hey Gill, I think this is a great pattern and can't wait to see your progress pictures. Congratulations on your approach to preparations: what is it about the five Ps? Perfect Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance? Oh, that's six Ps, oh well! Looks like my sanity's up for grabs too! Shocked

Alanna,et al,
I'm trying to be frantically organised, to break a trend whereby I just dive in and sink or swim...I'm working on the theory that one is never too old a dog to learn new tricks Laughing I've used this being organised trick with my colllege stuff, and so far I've amazed myself at how well I've managed to keep to it. CRIKEY!!
I love your 5/6 P's Very Happy My eyes went all peculiar after sorting out about half the blends needed, so I'm forcing myself to put the college work as primary task, and the fun stuff as secondary...housework and all that wifely stuff WAY down on the list Razz
I'm hard up for space so I have to pack things down so that Himself doesn't notice that I've encroached on the small amount we have. He told me..via textmessage (because he'd left for work when I got back from college)...that after having various degrees of hassle with the internet, he'd ordered my birthday present. Good in one way, but he has the habit of getting me stuff which has nothing to do with anything, so it's a 2 edged sword. If it's 'useful' or 'instructional', there'll be one severely mangled husband around Exclamation
My pics will be downloaded(I've not even got the fabric onto the frame yet!!) once I get something visible to the naked eye.

Gill,
You are cracking me up just reading this stuff--hilarious! I can picture the mayhem of the sorting, etc. I can't wait to see the pictures, or just read more about you getting to the point of having something to take a picture of...

And take it easy on the husband, at least he thought of you. Although I'm with you on the useless gifts. I'm very picky, but I know what I want if people would just ask me! (seems simple enough to me).

Hi all!

Well now, the progress so far is this....threads more or less Confused sorted...well...almost anyway, and Saturday morning was spent wrestling with a tapestry frame so that the fabric (gridded the previous week) was sewn onto the webbing thingies. I got the frame together without having vital bits leftover, and I did manage to mount the fabric onto it without wrecking my fingers, so that's a plus. I actually got so far as to do a microscopic bit of stitching. Jeepers! going into labour with a first child seemed like a picnic by comparison Rolling Eyes However....onwards and upwards and all that kind of stuff.
The old man's improving (well trained, or what?!), and I know he tries, bless him, so when I have got funky stuff in the past, I've not moaned at him, but have given STRONG hints in advance to get the idea firmly planted into his subconscious...we're getting there.
I plan to do some work on the project over the weekend, as I have a couple of exams imminent, and refuse to cram more already- learned coursework into the brain...what I don't know by the time ain't gonna be learned by last minute reading.....hence, relaxation by doing some stitching.
So glad to hear that I can afford you all some entertainment!!....As Arnie(Gov. California) said in his films...'I'll be back'

Take care all,

I am going to start "Kissing the Face of God" in about a month. I think I will use 32 ct evenweave and size 26 needles. I just finished "The Promise" a couple of weeks ago. I love Morgan Weistling's work.

What fabric and needle are you using? I will use a scroll frame with the sticky strips for the first time. I have 1" maple rods. Are you going to go from left to right each stitch at a time or or you going to skip around? I will grid mine with the blue washable markers. Aida would be a lot easier for me, but I can't get it to lie flat. I want my work to lie flat. If you look in the gallery you will see "The Promise" Laraine

How are you doing on "Kissing the Face of God"? What fabric and needle size are you using? I just finished "The Promise" see galley.

Do you start and work left to right without skipping any stitches? Are you using evenweave and pin head stitch? On the pinhead stitch I have a hard time getting the needle in the middle inside hole without messing up my x. I did the Promise on aida and it has some bumps in it and I am thinking about doing evenweave to avoid bumps. Laraine
