Hello to all stitchers,
this is Eva from Germany, in my late 40ies, working part time, mother of two teenagers, two dogs and a pony and addicted to all textile crafts. my user name, evitalace, is derived from bobbin lace making, which i enjoy very much. The rarer and finer crafts are what interest me most. For some years though, knitting has been the dominating craft.
But since I got my SQ pattern and started end of january, every spare minute goes into stitching. Stitching
didn't even finish a pair of socks!

Welcome, Eva! Welcome to SQ! What part of Germany are you in? When I was in the Air Force, I was stationed in the UK, and tried to go to Germany from there (they sent me to New Mexico instead - which I loved, so that was okay); my mother's family is from the Hamburg area, came to the US around 1880-1910's.

I asked in the other post under Stitching what SQ you're working on, but I'll ask here, too Smile And do you have a blog or online photos anywhere? Would love to see some of your work - bobbin lace fascinates me, but I've never seen it done in person Sad

Thank you for the welcome!
I do live in the northwestern part of Germany, north of Ruhrgebiet, not far from the Netherlands. form army view, this is British.

No actual blog - most of my projects are linked with my ravelry (the knitters social network) account, where I am evitalace as well. I smuggled in a few pics of embroidery and bobbin lace.

What I began right now is the Hendik Hondius World Map - HON001. this is what I achieved during three weeks of mad stitching. provided I could go on like this, it will take hardly five years Question

link to how ot looks today:

and to the latest piece of bobbin lace, a Milanese leaf:

warning - the file is huge)

is there a possibilty to find links to SQ members' blogs, or public photo albums?
I love the eye candy!

I love the map - I love old maps, anyway Smile Great start on it!

And WOW on the lace! I can't imagine doing that - I'd have a big ball of KNOTS Smile

As for blogs and photos, there are links and photos in many of the posts. I know my blogs are linked in my signature - the Multiply one is where all of my current pictures reside, while my weekly updates go to it and the other one listed. Christine (Divecat) has a blog, as well, though I don't know if she's linked it to her signature. There's at least one other floating around in here that I know of for sure - Barbara? I'd have to flip through posts to find it...

Keep us updated on your Map (and anything else, too Smile )

Yes, my siggy links to some of my stuff... but I haven't been very diligent in keeping it up to date...
On another note, when I click on the second link in Eva's post, it just hangs there...

It's a HUGE photo, so if your connection isn't the fastest, it may be taking a LONG time to load. I got into it at work and it took a long time to load there - but if you can get it to load, it's pretty amazing Smile

After 5 minutes, it had only loaded the top two inches on the screen, then froze everything. Even "Force Quit" wouldn't work. I had to actuallly turn the computer off to get it going again. So, I guess I'm not going to see the tatting.

oh, Barbara, I am very sorry to have caused computer problems for you. I do get the picture within a few seconds.

I'll try to change it into a version with less MB

have been to your homepage, and there's beautiful stitching! and the discontinued DMC colors substituion list has already been very helpful

Old maps are wonderful! I had calendars displaying old nautical maps two years in a row, and kept them because they are so beautiful. the compass roses alone would make wonderful little motifs to stitch, the ornamental ships and fantastic beasts and dragons, too.

@ rifestitch - wow to your projects displayed on multiply. I need 48 hours per day
@ Lani - what are you working on?
