I thought I'd revive this thread to mention that I finished my favorite Chatelaine this week - Medieval Town Mandala is DONE!!!
http://rifestitch.multiply.com/photos/album/124/2011_Finishes#photo=2

yes, I posted the link - I STILL can't post an image here, HTML really does hate me Sad

The picture doesn't do it justice, of course, you can't really see the 3000 beads or the specialty stitches - but if you find the MTM album on my Multiply, you can see it in bits & pieces in progress Smile

I LOVED this project - I'm kinda sad it's done now Sad But there are several more in the drawer now hollering at me, which I am trying to ignore - I'm on a mission to get some of these WIPs I have DONE this year, including my other Chatelaine, Knotgarden..

I am going to send it to Jill Rensel in Utah to frame - she does gorgeous work with these Chatelaines. My mom is going to pay for the framing as a gift Smile

Then, when I get my bedroom repainted this spring/summer, it's going on the wall behind the bed Smile

Here's is an example of Jill's work (you can google her, too, and find some Webshots photos of her work - and Shepherd's Bush uses her mats exclusively, I believe) - this is my pal Nancy's Tuscany Town (which is in my To Start pile for this year): http://ndmurdock.multiply.com/photos/album/105/2009_Finishes#photo=41

This is HUGE, btw - framed, it is nearly 4' x 4' - I think my fabric for this is 39" x 39"? Something huge.

And here is my pal Natalie's MTM, also done by Jill:
http://natmikesell.multiply.com/photos/album/31/Medieval_Town_Mandala#photo=17

If you go to the next button there, you can see the details she adds to the mats.

I have taught myself to frame, so I can do most of my own things - but this is a special piece, and a little more than I am willing to deal with (not to mention, I don't have the counter space to do anything this big Smile ) And for what Jill will charge me, locally, I'd get something a lot simpler, not nearly as special, for the same cost, or more Sad So, in this case, I think it's a more than worthy investment!

Thank you so much for the information about Jill Rensel. I hadn't known about her, and the work is indeed beautiful.

Is this framing done with glass or without?

MTM looks gorgeous, Rife! I've been following your blog, and I know how much you were looking forward to having this finish. Post pics when you have it framed. Hopefully it won'd be too long before you have it back!

Congrats Rife.. It is lovely and you are right, pictures don't do it justice. The beads and cyrstals just sparkle it. I have finished my Hanging Gardens, (not framed yet). Will show a picture later. I am working on the companion piece, The Rajasthan Lotus POnd, also Winter Guests in a Snowy World, Ehret die Fraune and a Fractal, and too mnay others. Why do I always love the BIG pieces//?? Just love to start a Rolling Eyes new one..

I assume using glass is personal preference. I always use glass, preferably with the UV coating - I have a smoker in my house, and lotsa animals, so everything I have goes behind something protective.

Can't wait to see yours! I try to stay off of her YUKU - I have a graduation and 1st year of college to figure out how to pay for this year, don't NEED the temptation Smile And while I try to whittle my WIP pile down some, I have more big projects hollering at me from the file cabinet... Must Finish More Than Start - at least for part of this year Twisted Evil

Finally got my Photo Shop pics on. This is "some" of what I am working on or have finished lately. http://s713.photobucket.com/albums/ww134/Patrice_032/ If this doesn't take you to my page let me know and I will try something else.. Not too swift at this kind of stuff. I have 5 of MW's on my wish list, but hope they can stay there for a while. I have no resistance against getting these wonderful ones. I just remembered another one I want to show in photo shop. Will do that soon.
Have you looked at Acacia Crafts <acaciacrafts@yahoo.com> from Australia. I have a lot of her patterns.
