I grid with Sulky Sliver metallic thread. Much cheaper than the special gridding thread, readily available at fabric stores, can't be pierced by a needle, pulls out easily, comes in a rainbow of colors and can even be reused. I bought mine a 250 yd spool at Joann's with a 50% off coupon for about $2.

Frogging is removing stitches, rip-it, rip-it.
