Merry Christmas to everyone. I am working on Martina Weber's Polar Mandala, (among others) . Do you wash or clean the piece before or after you do the beading?

Merry Christmas to you, too! Ewww, the Polar Mandala! I bet it's gorgeous in person!! As for when to wash, I don't wash ANY of my projects that have any fiber except DMC, and not even those very often. If you are using the called for silks and such in the mandala, and didn't do any kind of pre-treatment (such as with a fixative like Retayne), they are NOT color-fast, and you could run the risk of having dark colors run if you wash it. IF you converted it to all DMC, I would definitely wash it before beading, if you really need to, in case it shrinks any...
Can you post a picture of it, here, or somewhere online? I'd love to se it!

Thanks for your tips. I find sometimes though, that the piece needs to be washed, as if it is not all \'filled\' there are dirty areas where it has been against me on the scroll bar. I hope you can access my photo bucket to see it. I enjoy looking at your pics. I see you have done some I would love to do, but have too many WIP's now. You will see I am not even half way complete. It is a big piece. Doing it on white linen as I find it very difficult and depressing to work on black or dark blue. If this doesn't work let me know. http://s713.photobucket.com/user/Patrice_032/library/?sort=4&page=1

Oooo, that looks lovely. When I've finished my latest SQ piece (Flora) I am working up the courage to get Watergarden from Chatelaine. How's Ehret going - that was my first piece from SQ and I loved it, although I think in retrospect it was the most difficult due to all the confetti in the border.

You are right. The pictures don't do the Polar justice.
My Erhet is coming slowly. Just have three faces done. It is up north in Ontario with most of my WIP's while I am escaping the cold winter blasts down here in Florida.
Here I have SQ, Rain Blossoms, (which I find fun to do), and Young Gardener.
I also have a huge Fractal from Crossstitch Collectibles. am on page 21 out of 28.
Young Woman Admiring Snow Rabbit is from Pinoystitch.org and of course the usual various small ones that I take with me if traveling.

I was very proud of myself when I finished SQ's The Chocolate Pot. When in Cologne last Aug, we visited the Lindt Chocolate factory and they had the original painting there. It was called The Chocolate Girl. Of course I took a picture of it.
