Symbol stickers revisited: opinions please     Reply with quote

Enough people have asked about stickers with the floss colors and symbols now so that we will probably see what we can do about it. In looking at the kinds of labels available, there are either various sizes of small labels available, on small sheets, or large undivided sheets (i.e. an 8.5" x 11" label). If we went with the former, there are only fixed label sizes available. If we went with the latter, we could make the labels any size we wanted but you would have to cut them apart. We'd print lines so you would have a guide to follow.

Two questions:

1. If you had to cut the labels apart would you still be interested?

2. if you use something besides bobbins or bags for your floss, what size space is there for a label?

I haven't tried printing on the small sheets yet so I don't know how well the printer will handle them. I suspect, badly. But don't let that influence you - please give your honest opinion. There isn't any point in providing something that is only vaguely what people want.

Thanks!

YAY!!!

1) I would not mind a bit cutting them apart.

2) I use bobbins, so... I'll let someone else chime in on that question.

I agree with Fabala. I wouldn't mind cutting them apart. Cut lines would be helpful. Another suggestion would be to offer them in the size of the pattern ordered. Large print pattern would get large print labels.

I use Floss Away bags for my threads, so I'll have to let someone else answer that one, too.

I wouldn't mind cutting them apart, and lines would be helpful but not an absolute necessity. I'm one of the folks who photocopied the symbil page and then cut the symbols and numbers apart to stick on my floss bags with tape.

Floss labels are here!     Reply with quote

Just wanted to let you all know, floss labels are now available! I experimented with cutting labels apart and found that it's really tricky peel a sticker off when you have done that - hard to get it started. So I persevered and found labels that are a good size for bobbins (if folded over the top). Someone suggested anyway, that since the label has to go on the hole end of a bobbin, that it would be good if they folded double over the top so that there is not an exposed sticky place on the back of the hole.

I have been beta-testing the labels (the first thing I did after trying them was to increase the print size!) and it's actually very nice to get all the bobbins ready so easily. In the past I have made bobbins for the blends as I needed them, but that always involved some hunting around to be sure I didn't already have the bobbin for the blend someplace.

Thanks again to everyone for your thoughts on this subject - it has taken a long time to bring the labels into being, so thanks also for your patience, and I hope you like them.

Ooooh, this is exciting- do they come with the pattern or do you buy them seperately? Do they fit in the Pako? Stitching

How do we get them? I would like some for patterns I have already bought.

Nancy.

Hey Nancy, I've done a bit of sleuthing around the site- Meredith has added an 'include floss stickers' box on every pattern page which you have to tick before adding the pattern to your basket, and there's a new tab from the home page just for floss stickers- from here, just click on the flower, then the floss stickers tab and from there you can order stickers for patterns you already have. Happy sticking!

Thanks, Alanna. I obviously didn't look in the right spot. That will make it so much easier to sort colours and blends.

Happy Stitching!
