Comparison Question     Reply with quote

For those of you who have done any designs from the Heaven and Earth Designs site, how do they compare to SQ patterns? Some look stunning, but even the larger view is smaller than SQ's, so it is hard to tell.
Some of their designs are a bit modern for my taste Confused but a few are lovely.

Thanks in advance! Very Happy

I have one in the stash, and one as a WIP.They do not use any blends, so you don't have to contend with that, and, if you follow the recommendations and do them over-1 thread on an evenweave, you've only got one thread to contend with, as well.

Now, as for difficulty, just like SQ, it depends on the design. My Wip is every bit as complicated as my Lady & Unicorn, but because I am doing it over-1 on 28ct, it's even slower because of the confetti - but I am also at the edges of the design; when I get into the meat of the thing, I do have large areas of solid stitching (it's about 1/2 black, solid 310).

If you like one, get it - they are different than SQ, but comparable Smile You can see my WIP here:

And, if I ever finish this one (it's not in the regular rotation, so I don't work on it very often, sadly), I have this one waiting (by the same artist):

I did one pattern from HaE and one from Mystic Stitch before I found SQ. I was not impressed with either company, in terms of customer service nor website (Meredith is by far, the absolute best in these fields). The HaE design I chose was a Waterhouse painting, and since my first order, I have noticed more of his work showing up as cross stitch. I don't love all the blended needles all the time, but the finished products, in my opinion, are superior here.

Thanks for the tips! I like many, many more patterns than I can afford, or have time to do, so any HAE patterns will have to wait for a while. I'll keep it all in mind!
