Is it a commercial site you have to pay for, or one of Yahoo's freebies? If the latter, they have templates that are pretty straight-forward.
It's a commercial site, but my IT guy at work has been hosting websites at home, and has been trying to build his business, so it was supposed to be some mutual back-scratching, if I helped get the word out about his hosting services. But as we started this last August, and I have had to compile 100% of the data and gave him a page-by-page layout and the whole bit, andit's still nowhere close to ready, I seriously doubt I will recommend him.
I gave him the benefit of the doubt while our company moved - that ate into his time for 2 months - but since it's all cut & paste from what I've given him, it's getting kind of stupid. And once it's up, the maintenance is all me - he just has to show me the sw he's using, I already have access to his ftp, so once it's up and running, he just has to keep the server running. Considering a business license cost me $121/yr, and has to be renewed by 12/31, I'm going to be really ticked if I haven't made enough profit to cover that little bit of paper - at this rate, that is still very much questionable.
The biggest piece that is up to him to do is to create the data base of my stock numbers that goes into the shopping cart; I gave him a spreasheet with the numbers on it; he hasn't even looked at it. But his wife can't get him to finish the bathroom he's had ripped apart for 4 months, too. I guess I am just irritated because I really hate when people say they are going to do something, and spend hours giving you lip service, and then nothing; he has spent more effort telling me about all the stuff he can do that actually doing anything. If it isn't done by September (I certainly hope that isn't the case), that's when I have to renew the domain name, so I can move it then, if necessary.
Here's what's there so far - don't take anything there as real - he just threw this together last December, completely ignoring what I had given him (typical man, can't follow directions to save his life):
It has potential, if he'd just publish a group of what we did at the office one day. Even if he would just get the retail stuff up, I can add my cross stitch and Air Force pages later, or not at all, if I decide to make some more of my own sites out there, and just link them here somewhere.
Did he choose the color scheme? (More than a few males are red/green color blind and see these colors as shades of gray.)
It's the 4th one he came up with, and the only one that had color of any kind. I like jewel tones, so that was what I was pointing him towards. But until he lays out the pages the way I want, the background really doesn't matter. I want it darker, because all the manikins teh jewelry pics are taken on are off white, except the couple on black, but the background is still light.
