You know, I just came from Hobby Lobby, and they sell one of those floor stands - if you sign up for their e-mail list, about every other week they have a 40% off any one item, and the things it is not allowed to be used for does NOT include $110 floor stands!
Gee, I might have to think about trading up from my cheapy Wal Mart stand, even though it technically is working okay for me. I just wish I could remember what one I just looked at - I think it was $104? I think it was the Gazelle... apparently, the photographic memory is out of film.

I've seen them in there once or twice, but I've never seen the whole line there. They usually have the scroll bars and accessories.
I justified the price of my AD stand as a reward from my husband for living in China for two years. Well worth it. But, as soon as I get all settled and ready to stitch, the phone rings or I have to get up for something else. And, where's the portable phone? Upstairs, in its cradle in the office, of course.
Any chance you could send my husband to China for a while? I'd have more time to stitch... (just kidding)
Oddly enough, I think I had more time to stitch when I was in China. We had a maid twice a week, and a small place. I'd work in the morning, have lunch with hubby, come home, straighten, and sit down to sew for a couple of hours before he got home. If he was entertaining clients, I had a few more hours to sew.
Oh, well. I'm sure that time still exists in my schedule somewhere. I just have to dig it back out.
Now, about your BOSS... If you really want to show you care? Nothing like spending 10 - 13 hours in Economy Class!!!
