I wonder if anyone can help - I've just ordered my first chart (Ophelia), and I'm getting everything together to begin stitching. I've done other projects using 25 count fabric and 1 over 1 stitching. This project uses 2 embroidery threads and I don't know if this is too bulky on 25 count? I've done a small sample, but I can't really tell. Has anyone stitched on 25 count using 2 over 1, and can help me on this? I know I could use 18 count, but I like the fine detail you get with 25 count. I'd be grateful for any advice!
Well, I myself like to go larger than smaller- mostly I either do 2 over 2 on 32 or 36, or if I want to do petit point then I do one over 1 on the same fabric. I find that if you use too much thread in a small area it all gets bunched up and you lose half the beauty of the mixed colours because they're all shoved in on top of each other and you end up splitting threads as well and that can look messy. Just my experience...
Oh, and the other thing is that you can still do it with one thread over one if you like and for blends you simply do the bottom half cross in one shade (usually the darker one) and the top half cross in the other colour- that way you still get the blended effect.
Hi I am new here and I have a pattern called lily of the vally and it is done 2 over 1or 1 over 1 is all they sugest to hold the detail what would people sugest to me to hold the detail so I can use 2 over 2 or 2 over 1?
I stitch daily to relax and have done tons of work and this stumped me...lol
