Hello stitching friends,

Happy New Year!

We're working on some new art licensing agreements which we're very excited about! Arrangements are not final, so we'll keep mum about the details for now in case things fall through, but we hope to be able to tell you all about it next month!

All of our new patterns this month were by suggestion!

Garden of Delight - John Henry Dearle was first suggested by Sandi C. in Alberta, Canada. (This tapestry is often attributed to William Morris, but it was actually designed for the Morris studio by Dearle, so we think he ought to get the credit. To be additionally confusing, it's sometimes called Tree of Life.)

A lady who wishes to be anonymous in Uxbridge, Massachusetts suggested The Yellow House - Vincent Van Gogh.

A Special Pleader - Charles Burton Barber was also suggested by several people, but so far, the first person to suggest it has not responded to our email. She has a few more days to respond, and then we'll move on to the next person on the list (because we want someone to win). Copies of the other two patterns have been awarded! All are shown below.

DMC Alert

We've received word that DMC is raising their prices on most of their products including 6-strand embroidery floss effective February 1. The new suggested retail price (in the US) will be 74 cents per skein! Before you panic, this is not as big an increase as it may sound like -- most places sell DMC floss for much less than the suggested retail and will continue to do so. Still, you're likely to see the prices you pay go up about a nickel, so you may want to stock up now. We don't know what will happen outside the US but it seems likely that there will be price increases everywhere.
