Gathering Wood for Winter - George Henry Durrie

Counted Cross Stitch Pattern

A man and horse leading an oxen-pulled sled filled with logs along a snowy road on a darkening winter afternoon. Two boys with a dog have been helping by gathering a pile of sticks. On one side of the road are craggy trees, large boulders, and a small pond; on the other side is a rail fence bounding a field holding a large brick house and an outbuilding. Behind that are rocky cliffs and a sky filled with wintry clouds. (1855)
