A portrait of Infanta Margarita Teresa having her portrait painted. The little princess is in the center, with her maids of honor (meninas) hovering around her. Velasquez is to the left, facing his canvas. On the right are a dog and two dwarves. Standing outside the picture are the king and queen, Philip IV and Mariana of Austra (reflected in the mirror at the back of the room). Other attendants are in the background. (Baroque, 1656)
