A fair maiden with flowing golden hair wearing a brocade gown with golden designs leans over a rose-covered stone balustrade to tie a token of her favor to a knight's sleeve. He is riding a white horse, wearing chain mail, a cloak, and helmet with the visor up, and carrying a long lance, and is about to ride through the portcullis of the castle, through which other men-at-arms riding out to battle can be seen. This is the precursor to The Accolade, which we offer in a compatible size. (Pre-Raphaelite, 1900)
